Volunteering at Central Iowa Shelter & Services
Central Iowa Shelter & Services is a Des Moines organization which serves the area's homeless population by providing a nondenominational shelter for our community. Aside from offering beds and showers to those in need, Central Iowa Shelter & Services also serves 3 meals a day at no charge.
Innova's Des Moines office wanted to get involved. Chase Ruzek, Nicole Torstenson, Susie Jones and Susan Hatten (pictured below, from l to r) recently rolled up their sleeves over their own lunch break to dish out a few meals for those who need it most.
We discovered Central Iowa Shelter & Services provides more than 200 lunch meals a day, relying heavily on food donations to make this happen. The organization is constantly looking for new groups of volunteers to serve a meal, and it's safe to say we'll be back!
If you are interested in volunteering or providing food, please email Central Iowa Shelter & Services Executive Director Tony Timm. A little help will go a long way!
