SXSW Road Trip, Part 3: Sessions, Sessions Everywhere
Welcome to our special blog series on the South by Southwest Interactive conference. iPad + copywriter = strange magic? Find out below...
The second day at SXSW started early. Soooo early. But everything's in full swing now, and there's something amazing happening every hour. You just have to hope it's in the room you're at.
Fun stuff from Saturday's sessions:
- The progress bar ain't just for saving files anymore. No sir. It can be seen in profile completeness in LinkedIn, accounts in Mint.com, questions in SurveyMonkey, etc.
- 70% nudity still means you can still wear your shirt, pants and underwear when you start with 10 items of apparel.
- Progress bars are essentially becoming part of the gamification of the web - and it works because we craaaave resolution and completion.
- Mobile apps can learn a lesson or two from comic book standards - for instance, the Facebook app homepage is a Jack Kirby 3x3 grid.
- Mobile app development done right takes time - fight back to get the product you want and that users need.
- Netflix's iPhone app developer may or may not have given away the code for developing your own Netflix app.
- Nintendo's 3-D DS is pretty cool - and it doesn't require special glasses.
We capped off the night at the foursquare party (complete with PeeWee Herman sighting!), thanks to some special invites from our friends. Just one of the perks of working on the foursquare store. Lot of fun had by some of the smartest people in tech today, and this tweet sums it all up pretty nicely:
This is just like high school, except this time I'm one of the cool kids. #foursquareless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhoneBenjy Weinberger

Here's hoping Sunday is as smooth as a Harrison Barnes 3-pointer. (Okay, so maybe I was able to sneak in a little basketball.)
