AMES, Iowa, Aug. 24, 2010 – While the location-based check-in service foursquare grows in popularity nationwide, the developers zeroed in on the Midwest for creating their online store.

The New York-based foursquare team selected Central Iowa’s Sigler Companies as its preferred partner for the new foursquare Store, available at http://store.foursquare.com. foursquare itself is a trending social network which rewards people for checking into venues via mobile devices.

The store comes in response to user requests for items branded with foursquare’s characteristic fun, quirky designs, further enhancing the application’s ability to blur the borders between the virtual realm and the real world. Products are inspired by badges users “unlock” by checking in to establishments they visit, such as “Gym Rat” and “Jetsetter.”

Sigler Companies built the e-commerce website, screenprints products and handles order fulfillment. Available items include foursquare-themed T-shirts, buttons and stickers. The company intends to rotate a mix of limited edition designs on a regular basis, relying on visitor votes to help determine the next featured item.

The foursquare Store launched Aug. 8, and was a feature story in several online news sources such as Forbes and TechCrunch.
